      ... mountains. At the top they have a huge parking area where you have to park and take a shuttle van up to the actual summit. The viewpoints along the way were nice and the road was wide enough so it wasn't nearly as harrowing as the drive up Mt Washington. Mom was thankful for that and so was I.       ... moving in on us so we hastened our step and got back on the road, now in New York, heading down 9N all the way down the length of Lake George. There were relatively few actual viewpoints although you are literally driving right next to the lake on one side and the mountains on the other. It was quite a unique drive.

      Today was always going to be a non-event; we had to drive 200+ miles from Henrietta/Rochester to Albany/Troy. The drive on the I90 gave me the chance to fiddle with all the new knobs, dials and levers, but opening the boot, sorry trunk, was beyond me for quite a while.       ... Highway is 3 lanes each way and the drive in was very quick. As usual the signage is good and makes it relatively easy to navigate without Tom if we are just looking.

      The clouds had cleared from breakfast and it was a beautiful day, not cold, very pleasant. Walked around the city for a short time taking in part of a walking tour. There are some lovely old buildings, some not so nice looking ones and some big new buildings.

      ... had his breakfast of toast with his own peanut butter and I had yoghurt.

      Was raining slightly when we set off. Bought our lunch supplies from across the road at Big Y which must be a big chain as it had it's own home brands.
