Anyway, SNCF has clearly discovered customer service in a big way, and buying Olivia's train ticket was a pleasure....we then strolled into the old town, and almost immediately found a lovely little italian restaurant with tables outside by the river bank. My friend invited us over for a dinner party with his family and family friends, which was great! I was finally able to practice my French! ... to it including skorpor, swiss cheeses, relish and then he had a forkful before adding more stuff! Not a bad day. Enough time on the motorway (pageant) not to make the drive too long. We travelled 400km today but without motorway it would have been very tedious. Beautiful and varied landscape and at Beaune we picked up a detailed cycling map and started planning our next trip to France while sipping a glass of local red! Pretty good ...
