Day 34
Day 34 Big drive yesterday - really tired, but we must do something different for our last full day in France, so we decide to head direction Pyrenees, tthrough vineyard after vineyard, to the little town (it has a McDo we discovered - and no, we didn't go in ) of Limoux, of the origins of champagne claim to fame. Peter drives right into the middle of town until he can't drive straight ahead any further, we are forced into a really narrow street and end ...
Day 33
Day 33 Today we travelled 432kms to see the viaduc de Millau. We travelled out of Carcassonne, with grey skies, not along the autoroute, and by the time we reached Narbonne, about 40mins later, it was brilliant sunshine. Suddenly, I see an exit and tell Peter to take it - good decision - and finally we ...

At lunchtime, we decide to go back there, but when we arrive, it's closed (it is 2.30), she remembers us from the morning and invites us in - she is only too willing to feed us. We order the cassoulet and un pichet of pays d'oc blanc. For the uninitiated, cassoulet is a peasant-style, stew dish of white legumes (bigger than cannellini beans), confit of duck (leg), confit of porc, and a saucisse - ...
Day 30
... furnished - new kitchen and bathroom. The sliding doors open onto a timber balcony (laid over the concrete), complete with glass table, 4 chairs and 2 long chairs. The bedroom is at the front, once again, newly furnished and fresh. It is such a lovely place - what is even more lovely is the stunning view from the balcony - majestic during the day, but stunning at night (see pics). Two hassles - no washing machine (advertised as having one, but not ...
