After three months of walking or driving by, we finally graced the local chateau with our presence. What a delightful surprise! The scaffolding and curtain hiding the repair work had put us off but once inside it has a great stone staircase and rooms of very aesthetic proportions well decorated with several periods of furnishing. ... me hungry. We went through a small lock to avoid shooting the rapids. Made lunch - goats cheese. olive oil and honey on toast with salad. Pretty good! Rainy start to the day! Not heavy. We decide to visit some of the villages around the Lot. Just to motor round. The roads are just wide enough for 2 cars but mostly empty. It was a relatively cold night but lovely morning. It is not as hot as in Province but more suitable for us Brits. Today we went to the village up the road (literally) St Cirq Lapopie.
