... sometimes just little stone notches cut into the side. Others had great metal ladders - always an adventure.

The scenery was ever changing and we took hundreds of photos. Sometimes we would see gentle rolling hills and small towns in the distance. Other times we would be in a cool tunnel of trees creating a large canopy over the water. The water was very dirty with run off from farms and waste dumped by boats (no holding tanks here!) But there was ...

Although we were sort of sad to leave Brittany, we were excited to make a trip down memory lane, quite literally. I booked us two nights at the same hotel where we had started our 1998 Classic Burgundy cycling trip. We had been on the road for 2 hours ...

We seem to be getting quite good at packing up now but it still has to be done so we had a leisurely morning with Mum and I sorting laundry and packing and the boys working. After lunch we headed back to Laignes for a wander around the little village which is quite quaint and then went to a lake near Marcenay only 10 mins away. We had a walk along the lake and in the forrest, but nothing too strenuous. There was a ...

Another overcast drizzly day but with fresh bread and pomme chaussons from the van to start off breakfast well. Not quite sure if we'd get anything done before lunch, so we ended up having a little driving tour around Gigny and it's environs. Havre Paisible the name of the gite means peaceful haven - and it largely was, except for the neighbouring church bells chiming loudly every quarter of an hour (seems a theme for this holiday) and the large agricultural ...
