Will write this up as time permits but the highlight for me today was the visit to a little village called Apremont which is very proud of being beautiful and rightly so http://www.apremont-sur-allier.com/the% 20village.html
Before that we went to the city of Nevers.
Up and off on time. We road up and down a local road to warm up then we headed straight up to Sancerre, a hilltop, medieval village. It was 3kms up. I took it nice and steady and was able to achieve the climb without stopping or getting off.
What a wonderful spot! Narrow little streets, a wee square with cafes, patisserie surronding it. We sat and had a coffee to let the rest ...
... after cycling through remarkable villages. Tomorrow's short 25-mile ride to Aix-en-Provence and a bus ride into Marseilles brings this tour to and end. I've been away from home for a month and am more than ready to be home. Ever the optimist, I think I can wrap up this blog on Thursday as I travel by high-speed train to the Paris airport and then spend the afternoon at an airport hotel.]
