My word things have been happening. So many things.

I'll begin with the last day in Bruges as it is brief - I climbed a five hundred year old bell tower whilst hungover after drinking multiple 12% beers. Got some choice photos of it though so worth it for sure.

My next move was to Noordwijk via Leiden by train. My dutch friend Rene and his partner Sharon welcomed me into their home (which has just been built & was flash as!) for ...

... perfection (except for its out of place casino). The 2km promenade along the shore is a must with blooming gardens, sculptures and sights to see everywhere. Strongly recommend! A quick stop at the hotel where Barbara's art is exhibited then we headed back through town window shopping, mostly closed as it was 7pm after a long day. All we could manage was fried rice with shrimp from the Thai restaurant around the corner from us and an early night. Phew! This was definitely a day trip to ...

We walked around the castle and down the back streets, returning to fetch meringues and cream for dinner - compulsory when you visit Gruyere! Also picked some fragrant soaps made locally to bring home - all the craft shops had locally ...

... the play. They performed High School Musical, which was cute. One of my students (not one of the awful ones) had the male lead. After the theater, we went the gym for the art show. I looked at the art and then left for a little while to talk to Ed on the phone. After that, I went back just in time for the flags to start. Again, they played the national anthems for all the countries, everyone sang their anthem, and they displayed the flags from each country. ...

    Being appreciated

On Wednesday, my classes went okay. After teaching, I got all the rest of my comments done, packed up some things in my classroom and spent some time online. I also got all of my awards done. I had seen Ken and Cheryl in the cafeteria when I stopped by after the staff meeting. They were going to wander around town for the morning, then meet me back at Savoy at lunch. I found them in the cafeteria and we had lunch, then went back to my classroom. They checked email ...
