In the beginning- Creation of Adam, & the Vatican
... we were not sure if we'd covered them all. We saw massive marble baths, hundreds of individual sculptures of everyday things such as goats, donkeys, dogs, horses, etc. And they were all incredibly detailed and so delicately sculpted. It was also very sad to see all the plundered artworks.... so many heads of statues that were simply broken off from the rest of the artwork in order to be transported here from its original location. ("Pan-theon" is a Greek term meaning "all the gods.") Since 609 C.E., it has served as ...
Piazza del Popolo area
... two things. One, when we first arrived at the museum, Sean and I got to walk around this really, really nice garden, of which there are pictures. And two, there was a cat, a calico one, lying out in the sun beneath the hedges. It was funny because its face looked mean, but it was clearly feeling affectionate and was purring and kneading at the ground when I spoke to it. I was tempted to pet it, just once, but Sean wouldn't let ...
