Up early and off to the Amish area of Ohio in Holms County. Lots of great shops full of crafts and furniture. Joanne loved it and is ready to spend a week here - lookout John!! The food is amazing the shopping is great and pace is slow. We saw lots of farms; buggies everywhere. The food is to die for.

We left South Bend early so we could drive 4 1/2 hours across Indiana and into Ohio to watch the Akron Rubber Ducks play an afternoon game (Sophie really wanted to see two of her favorite things - baseball and rubber ducks - together). Canal Park is a great little ballpark and the Rubber Ducks won, so we had fun, but there wasn't a single rubber duck to be found in the souvenir shop. From there we drove on, out of Ohio, a little way through Pennsylvania, and into New York for a camping ...

What we came upon, purely by chance, was the annual event at the Mount Hope Auction grounds in the heart of Holmes County, Ohio.

It's called Horse Progress Days, where the latest equipment innovations and hitching techniques in the Draft Horse Industry are showcased.
