... was in order. Big day. Woke to a fine but cooler morning. Sightseeing on the agenda today. Our first stop was FDR's house at Hyde Park. We saw a short film & then took a tour of the house. Really interesting & now have to go home & read up on him. Sounds like an American Gough Whitlam & the whole Polio/never being seen in a wheelchair thing is so unbelievable. The estate is right on the Hudson River & the wind today was freezing. Back ...
... was only 5.30pm so we'd be fine. And we were but I wouldn't do it again. Once we'd checked into the hotel, we walked 2 blocks up the road to get some takeaway for dinner & that didn't feel great either. There were other parts of the FDR historical site to visit, like Val-Kill, Eleanor's retreat cottage, but we ran out of time so headed off for our hotel with the possibility of walking on the bridge over the Hudson if we had time.
... Carol, Jeannie and Otto but it may have been somewhere else.
We got to our Fishkill hotel just about when it was getting dark. It was also pretty cold as we (or I) had to make multiple trips to the car. We were very pleasantly surprised by the spacious "suite" with kitchenette - where we could nourish ourselves on leftovers from our dinner at Kara and John's. Thank you, John, for all the food!
