Carnivale a Les Matelles
Sunday was a nice day out. Like Saturday, it was about 30 deg. I hung around in the morning doing nothing in particular, so by the time I left it was about 10:30 and already t-shirt temp. I thought someone had told me St Gely du Fesc was a nice old town, so I headed more or less that way. I got less lost than usual. I followed a piste cyclable most of the way out of Montpellier. I did not stick to it completely, since there was very little traffic, so I could charge along ...
Cournonsec
... altitude for no reason. Later in the day, I was flying down a hill chasing cars (the speed limit was only 50), when the light changed and I had to stop at the bottom of the hill. There should be a law against that. Maybe I need a siren so I can just pull out and make use of the momentum I have after a descent. Anyway, I digress. I was following my route on the map, and it had marked a village scenique close by, so I headed for that. Scenic villages are almost always at the top of the hill. This one was too. It is in the paysage de Pic St Loup, known for its wine. By the time I got there, I had finished all my water, so ...
Good days ride
... so good. Then I discovered I brought a shrader valve pump, and only presta valve tubes, so I had to patch it. I used to be better at that. Of course, I could say that about a lot of things. I did manage to get it patched and inflated, so continued along to Aigues Mortes. Now I am having my first beer of the trip. It's good too. - particularly so because it is hot and sunny (the bell just chimed 3). Well, time to finish this and head back to Montpellier. A la ...
