That and the mugginess cut my visit short as I missed out on the Barbini Gardens because I couldn't quite find the trail as it split off into the hills. At one point, I had a Dan Brown moment, felt like Robert Langdon wondering which way to go as occasionally statues would be at the fork.     ... My Italian class is working as my formal training with the language, while my time at home is more comical and helps with my ability to understand Italian.     ... where mum found another irish pub, right next to the hotel and had a few beers. I went up to the room to have a rest. We ended up at the same restaurant as the night before, inside this time and really appreciated the way Italians serve wine. There is no wine list, you choose either red or white and it comes in a ¼ litre, ½ litre and a full litre. Not surprisingly this ended up as another drunken night.

    Florence is right up there at the top of our "favorite places" list. Such a beautiful city, with a surprise around every corner. Our favorite way of getting around the city was to walk. You see more that way!
    We were always pleased with the many meals we had at local cafes and restaurants hidden down the narrow streets.
