Getting to this hostel was one of the most exhausting experiences of my life. First, I just about missed my bus here and made it with only about 5 minutes to spare. Then I had a fabulous 13 hour overnight bus ride to Toulouse which wouldn`t have been so bad if I could have slept but the bus was completely full and I have trouble sleeping in a sitting position. 4 Days South
... to the cities history, am thinking of writing an alternative history guide for new visitors. We had grand plans for dinner that night but illness (not on my behalf) directed us to the couch, with a rediculous amount of Pizza, a movie that was terrible that i've now forgotten, but we did have a sucessful evening with someone becoming a new Couchsurfing member. 45mins of a movie in bed and it was lights out for Toulouse. The 14.5 degrees in Narbonne quickly becomes 5.5 degrees as we near Millau - and the sun gives way to cloud, and weather that closes in on us. We eventually hit 825m above sea level - all this to see a bridge, you say. You haven't seen the bridge, I say. Le viaduc de Millau is not just any bridge - it cost 320 million euros - at its highest point it is ...
Day 32
... the experience. Once we'd explored the castle, which was really interesting - there's lots to see and understand about military architecture - we climbed onto the ramparts and walked along them back to the porte narbonnaise - it's the only section that you're allowed to walk along - up, down - what a view - look back that way - can you imagine what it must have been like under siege? We had a thoroughly enjoyable 3 hours and were more than ready for lunch. ...
