... across this adorable town in the mountains that had a waterfall running through town, here we each got a savoury baked good, some fresh mountain water from the local drinking fountains (btw one of my fav parts of Europe, drinking fountains everywhere) and explored a bit. As it was getting late it was time to take to the Fifi and drive to our destination for the night and the next, Arles (the s is silent and I can't say it properly for the ...

For me seeing a wonderful memorial to pilots from France, England, America and South Africa lost to us during the war at the entrance to a field which once was home to a war time airfield of Lancaster Bombers and their crews was a humbling site. There we are cycling along a flat open area ...

... route back which was great as it gave us another perspective of the countryside. This route took us through Avignon and we stopped for a 'nature break' as they say on the Tour, found a modern shopping centre with a nice restaurant so decided to stay there for dinner which was very pleasant. By the time we got back to St Remy it was 9.00pm after another very pleasant ...

Once we worked this out, we moved on to Uzes village. Uzes is a small quaint village with a lot of boutique shops and cafes. The duke and dutches of Uzes still live in the castle around which the village developed. The castle is now open to the public in the hope that the funds from the ticket sales would fund the restoration work. The 18 euros for entry was too much for us so we continued our self guided tour. We walked around the little streets while munching on ...

    Sur Le Pont d'Avignon

One of my favourite places I visited in France, Avignon is such a beautiful old city. We stayed at an Air B'n'B rental within the ancient town centre, and were lucky enough to have access to a rooftop patio that looked out over the city toward the Palais de Papes. Had a lovely time strolling along the medieval ramparts, and the gorgeous wall of greenery in the city centre. Nothing bad to say about my visit to Avignon!
