... built in the 1st or 2nd Century and held 20,000. It was used for chariot races and gladiator fights and is still in use today during the bullfighting season. Very cool! Forgot to take a photo unfortunately.

Up early to make use of free Wifi - that is Kim watched the sunrise while sitting outside a closed café and scabbing their Wifi! We then we hightailed it out of Arles and towards Spain.
... rain finally stopped after nearly a week so we were able to enjoy some out of Scooby time!
Saturday 7 Nov
Forecasted for rain today but it held off until late afternoon which gave me time to replace the washer in the gear box and for Kim to go for a run, which she was hankering for as she had been getting a little cabin fever of late due to the rain and lack of exercise/time outside!
Wait a minute, we’re not traveling to Italy until tomorrow…but we spent the day in Arles exploring Roman architecture.
The biggest site in town is the amphitheatre, or coliseum. Glimpses through different side streets pull you even closer like the hub it has always been. Huge in scale, some seating is till original and large towers give sweeping views of the ...
... add details, and as Vincent so skillfully did: show movement and texture with brush strokes. As I photographer, I must only capture what is there. Although I can make some minute adjustments, it’s reality. So many times I wish a tree would just move to the left, the shadow would fall differently, or that a person would get out of the way! Arles, Provence, France 2totango... the wind to walk across the bridge in the evening to Avignon for dinner. This morning we went on a wine tour (I know, but it is too hard to resist) around the Cotes du Rhone with Phillipe, a very competant and helpful local guide. We ended up at Chateauneuf du Pape drinking wonderful reds which has been a wine hightlight of the trip - the village has the most amazing view of Provence ...
Avignon, Provence, France falkewind... block several times we got the last park in the whole area, and it was right outside the restaurant. Never mind that it required Alison to hold up traffic while I backed out later on.) it was past 2.00pm. We were most concerned that we would be too late. But no, they found us a table, and brought the Menu de Jour on a blackboard – three courses with two options for each course. Our French phrase book did not help us to understand ...
Nîmes, Languedoc-Roussillon, France kevino101... only spans halfway across the river, as it was washed away in a flood in 1668. Our next stop was to be the town of Arles, known for its Roman ruins, just 70km south of Avignon. But Tom had other ideas. I realise that Tom is merely a computer with a voice, however after a few days of having his company on our journeys he had started to take on a bit of a personality. Tom very confidently led us out of Avignon, but as the roads started to get narrower and eventually ended in the middle of ...
Provence, France wells2008... chocolat). Not too sweet. A nice delicate balance. France is worth the trip just for the food. Waitress was very pretty and spoke some Spanish. The restaurant focused on regional specialties but had a Spanish theme. I think I found the only thing sexier than a woman speaking Spanish - a woman speaking Spanish with a French accent! I asked her if I could move the beds apart, but she only gave me a puzzled look (happens to me every time!!!)
