ok, it was more "collecting a new country" than being really interested in Monaco. Strange, when you go there from Nice airport by bus it costs you 18 € one way, when you go from Nice bus terminal it costs 1 € one way. Monaco is a very clean city. I have never seen so many big and expensive cars. I saw the casino and the castle. Nice, but not spectacular.
Monaco, Monaco tilmanI know I always write the same...great weather, such a nice city, good food....but I have to say that Nice was a (very) big surprise for me, I can say that it is my favourite city in Europe (ok, number 2 after Lisbon). You have the mountains, the Cote dŽAzur (when you see the water you know why the name is Cote dŽAzur), the market with fresh vegetables, fruits, honey, oil, soap, you have great restaurants ...
Nice, Provence, France tilman... gesture. We can't change the world but we can change the way these children start off in life and who knows where that will lead....
It is less than 4 weeks now until I leave. There is much to do. I am trying to prepare myself for "teaching" 20 - 25 children. A bit of a challenge that. Much as I have known that I have always wanted to do something like this, now that it ...
... about a dog... Toilet time It is amazing how toilet dramas/stories are always a hot topic of conversation amongst travelers. I feel a little empty this time round as we have averted the problem as we have a Thetford cassette Porta Potti. Called "Theo"... We started out thinking would only use him in emergency situations but with the scarcity of public loos in France and more so in Italy means he is getting a lot more use than first planned. These loos are easy to empty and ...
Les Arcs sur Argens, Provence, France darrenhough74... weather back home in Melbourne and looked forward to a top of 18 one of the days whilst staying at the hotel and crossed fingers to hopefully get enough sun to enjoy the pool at our shmance hotel. We were very excited for an ensuite AND a double bed AND one doona AND maybe a bath.... Such luxury!!!
On the friday before our hotel stay, which we had decided would be chill time primarily, we decided to try and get some official sight-seeing time in and ventured out on day trip to ...

... then found a fantastic winery perched up in the hills and had a long slow lunch (3 hours at least). Weather was sublime, got home and had a barbie back at the apartment and watched the people in the town, sipping beers.
Friday we hired bikes and cycled right around the city, took a leisurely hour, then cruised around the other parts, eating and drinking, kicking the soccerball with Nathan or sitting around the cafes. Another home cooked meal ...
... started - not quite enough to check into the Hotel de Paris for the night, but just enough for an ice-cream each... * Checking out Cannes and the (rather dirty) red carpet the stars walk up at the Cannes International Film Festival each year * Admiring the yachts and the mega-yachts all along the French Riviera, especially at the Monaco Yacht Show We'll be back soon with some tales from Oktoberfest and Ireland - stay tuned!! Nice, Provence, France collyromas... bus. He didn't want to risk making it worse. I didn't care - swimming in the Mediterranean is very different than at home. Its very salty, no waves, but swells (good for just floating) but strange with no sand under foot. The locals were laughing at us cause we looked funny trying to get in without slipping on the rocks. Tonight we are off to the Grand Casino in Monaco. Bye!!!
Nice, Provence, France melan... for our car was near the parking for the cruise ships where we crossed the busy street and found the stone stairs and switch-back path to the top of a 90-meter hill called Le Chateau. There's really no chateau now...Louis XIV ordered it razed in 1706...quite quirky for a citadel that was already 2,000 years old! The foundation of a church is still there to view and now there are gardens, playgrounds and a snack bar. The best part of ...
