Day 2 Quebec City - explore and ice skate

A travel blog entry by melrlewis on Dec 28, 2014

Up a bit earlier, out for a great breakfast. It had snowed a little overnight but it was warm this morning, about 2c so lots of melting snow and ice. Did some shopping for ski gear on the way back to hotel to brush teeth :-) We made our way up to the ice rink for the kids to skate again and to grab a nice coffee for Melinda and I. We did some exploring in the top part of the old town up ...

... impression in Quebec. Three different groups of people stopped us throughout our walk to tell us they were either on the plane trip with us, or on our prison tour yesterday. I just nodded and smiled, I had no idea who these people were. Adalia has been a hit in Quebec though. People stop me everywhere I go to tell me she is beautiful, yesterday a group of tourists stopped to take her photo! Poor Samuel asked me today why people don't think he is cute. It was time to go back across ...

We ate lunch at Le Cochon Dingue, The Crazy Pig, where we sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

We wandered along the streets near the river as we made our way back to the ship. Bruce posed with the Winter Carnival mascot and we bid adieu to the lovely city of Quebec.

Once back on board the Summitt, the Menchers challenged the nationally ...

... that looped back. At the summit of the trail there was a terrific view of the Laurentian Mountains; spectacular. We got back to the van and decided to drive to mile marker 3 where we could get information about renting some canoes or kayaks to be on the river for a bit. We decided to get two canoes, and all had life jackets. The water was smooth and calm and we paddled up stream about 1 km. We beached the boats on a mid-river island and all swam in the cool, clear ...

Very slow start to the day today... Got out of bed at 10, such a good sleep! Attempted a run, but it's really too hot here! Had a shower and breakfast etc, then slowly made my way to the old town to visit the Plains of Abraham - a lovely park with amazing views and a museum about the history of Québec which is my next stop. I've taken a break in the shade to read for a bit, very tranquille ici! Had a quick visit to the museum but ...
