... needed to have a much closer eye on the children, Sammy in particular who is in the habit of running towards whatever catches his eye! We left the garden at 6pm to get some dinner, and discovered that the Main Street had been closed to traffic and the restaurants were flowing out onto the sidewalk. It was all so lovely. However with two very tired children I didn't attempt a restaurant. Instead we had a hotel floor picnic - which is heaps more fun for kids ...

... But, as I said, we're silly. And American. It's actually a french canadian combo meal with 1 du lac, a small poutine and a small coke. We went back through the line for two more du lacs. I imagine they were making fun of us the whole time. Ignorance is bliss! The next day we walked around Montreal. It has a very different feel than Quebec city. Grimier, but in a good way. Livelier, too. We got bagels from Fairmount bagel. Montreal bagels ...

... to leave before the encore to catch my bus, and everyone insisted on coming with me not only to the appartment but to the bus station too! Very impressed with how quickly everyone walked, think that's the first time we've been on time, well done team! Changed into some comfy clothes for the journey - which consisted of the 'La vie est simple' t-shirt which everyone has signed and is currently my favourite item of clothing. ...

... which direction has the right of way. I can sort of get what they are trying to say but Bob doesn't know any French and neither would most tourists from outside Canada. Also, signs at historic sights are all in French which leaves the anglophones without the info that you would think Quebec would want visitors to know.

It has been fun for me trying to remember my high school French ...
