    ... I'd known nothing. But there's a terrific 'Museo Archeologico Paolo Orsi' which helped me make sense of all this, and the other archeologically important sites across Sicily. Returning to Ortigia on foot, I would have collapsed onto my bed for a rest if it had been on ground level. In fact I had to stagger to the top of the ladder in order to stretch out for a nanna nap before drinks and dinner. I've grown partial to a negroni before dinner. I find somewhere nice ...

    At least it didin't come down to a coin toss, as both options had great things going for them, but in the end, we chose to spend the day wandering through the town of Siracusa and Ortigia, rather than the seaside resort of Taormina.

    First, we packed up our bags for our room change - the only downside of showing up in Catania one day early - and headed downstairs for one of the most extensive(and delicious) Buffet breakfasts I've ever seen ...

    ... 4 sacrifice n greek teatro. A long road with caves/rooms in the side cliff for storing bodies.
    Lots of other natural displays but ended with the supposed tomb of archimedes.
    Back to our little haven of Ortigia 4 siesta n drinks.
    Stroll around the water front n down a few alleys to a little restaurant.
    Sardines 4 me squid ink pasta 4 jeff , unfortunately I didn't take my tablet so cannot send u an image!!

    ... though.....

    We finally made it to Costanza and ordered straciatella for the girls, limone for Paolo and pistachio for me. It was DIVINE, but truthfully, the gelaterie in Scicli and Minori are just as good.....

    After lunch and a nap, we went to the beach from 5pm to 8pm...... Paolo and the girls played in the water for hours......

    Tomorrow we make the trek to Agrigento to visit Valle dei Templi...... Pray there is a Gelateria of some standing ...
