... for defensive reasons. The town is something to behold and it is hard to describe in words your first impressions when you are driving along the valley below near the river and round a bend and then straight above you is this magnificent medieval town. The weather was cold and cloudy, but it did not stop us from getting out and exploring.

... president of France. We took a look through the ancient ruins and the very very old church. We had a very delightful lunch. It was quite exceptional really. I had sliced duck on sewers, terry and Jane had trout and Helen had beef...al were presented similarly and we all agreed, simply delicious. Went for further walks around the town, just so picture ...
... and many, many walkers mostly French .. Of course they laugh at our attempts at French.. I must say Helen and terry do magnificently well... And some of the situations we have found ourselves in have been very challenging .. Those two are great. Me...hopeless. Well tomorrow is another taxi day all organised.. We had a biggish night last night and so we were a bit slow rising this morning, and being Sunday, it's traditional to have a bit of a lie-in. And also, being Sunday, it's also traditional for us, to have bacon and eggs for breakfast. ... trying to avoid the twisted ankle. People tend to keep their properties very well maintained. A fair number of artists seem to be located here and this village unlike the others had some commerce in the form of two bistro/restaurants and a shop with all things Auvergne. We stopped and had a little lunch on a stone wall and had fun imagining what it would be like to live here now and in years gone by. ...
