    ... was here, I eventually caught the 5A bus into DC ($7) where it finally dawned on me I was travelling for 6 MONTHS!! Stopping at L'Enfant Plaza, I was welcomed to DC by Anya who had kindly offered to house us on the first leg of our journey. An excited arrival and a long overdue hug from Anya, we headed back to hers to drop off bags, only a 7 min walk from U street station.     I'm taking this last week + to get my work in order, I will NOT be accessing my work email while I'm gone and I am also getting the little things done for traveling. I bought all my mini size items this weekend and called the bank. I also had my cracked phone repaired. Now, I still need the international plug adapter.

    Deep breath... this will be amazing!

    ... museum of American History. They had a live theatre performance, a piece of forum theatre that was centred around the Greensboro diner sit-in in 1960 and the peaceful civil rights movement. That was really interesting and very well done. It included a lot of audience interaction and concluded with us all singing a freedom song: 'I'm on my way; to freedom land.' With the song stuck in our heads, we had a look at the rest ...

I had tears rolling down my eyes at a pretty consistent rate and when we walked in the next exhibit, Nina had to cradle me as many of the artifacts in the room were from the Ghettos and trains. For example, when I realized that we were walking on brick from the Warsaw Ghetto, I nearly shrieked, and when we walked in one of the cargo trains that people were transported to concentration camps on, I sobbed uncontrollably. ...

    ... in repair include complexities such as the time needed to erect scaffolding. I took some photos of the US flags flying at the base of this beautiful structure so have included them as well. We love the way the US people have a strong belief in patriotism, their flag flies everywhere here, on buildings as well as private dwellings including houses, apartments, etc.
