... This place is amazing, a beautiful little town, surrounded by mountains covered in snow, set on a channel of water where the Atlantic and the Pacific meet. Went on a boat trip through the Beagle Channel stopping off at small rocks covered in fur seals and sea lions. They sound stupid and it smells like a shearing shed, like ****. Sat on the boat and just stared, amazed at all the mountains around. Went out to the lighthouse at the mouth of the Beagle Channel and came ...

Ushuaia and Punta Arenas should organise a swap of location, wholesale. Punta Arenas feels like the a community at the end of the world, where even hope hibernates for the winter. Ushuaia, meanwhile, is the bonafide 'most southerly city' and yet is neat, quaint and downright civilised - positioned on the inclement shores of the Beagle Channel and rising to a crocodile's teeth of picture-postcard snow-capped mountains. The centre of town, an orderly cluster of ...
... it could be worst but it could also be alott better, ther´s a soower wide open that stink´s up the favella that runs through the favella, all ther soower pips are exposed and the electrical weiyer´s are all bair, so if you touch then, good luck. The streets are extreamly nairow, you could spread your arms out and touch the walls hand to hand, not to mentions the houses are extreamly small, they build up, if they can, the taller the ...

There were huge cartopon-like alice rabbits, red foxes bigger than those that root through London trash, and remnants of beavers that came out int he night. We trekked through dense forsts where the thousands upon thousands of tall consuming trees englufed you and creaked and moved as if they were talkign to you. It was Narnai-like. Corner after corner there ...
Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina cornflake... for it. The hostel was also full of cool young backpackers who wanted to party all night and the music blared until 5am a couple of nights we were there so I didn´t get much sleep...it was a case of if you can´t beat them join them on St Patrick day!! I think I am back in the swing of dorm life again but it is difficult to give up such a lot of your privacy. Sharing rooms with several strangers who are often smelly and noisy is never ideal but you do get used to it.
Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina littlemisbakpak... a cruise. There were last minute deals for 15 day cruises for us$5000 as opposed to us$15,000 if you book through a travel agent. I plan to return one day and do one, but be warned if you get sea sick, there is 500 nauticul miles of huge heaving seas and gale force winds between the cape and Antarctica. We heard reports of people seriously considering killing themselves to make the nausea stop.
Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina shortyesquireHello Feb 8 2009 730 AM 62 degrees Latitude Yesterdays blog was dated wrong should have been 7 Feb will correct that when I get home. Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina rogersusieq... the road passing a number of planes I began to get this feeling of dread. I spotted a LADE plane and it was pretty small (well OK not that small probably seating 75 people) but not really what I was hoping for. However as the bus passed this one I saw with horror that the next plane seemed to be plastered in duct tape and the engine was covered in plastic! Fortunately the bus was just turning around and the 'small' plane that was ours didn't seem such a bad option ...

Lots of corrugated steel used in construction and Lupines growing everywhere. I have never seen such beautiful Lupines as on this trip. It had become overcast so I took the tender back to the ship.
