... by a middle aged drunk woman who took us in the wrong direction. As it got dark, we conceded defeat and headed back to the city. We spent a few hours in a pub then decided to catch a midnight bus out there. At 3:30 am on the 5th day of travel, we finally made it to the mountains.

... A lot of the time one would be walking in the actual river than on any sort of dry land. We braved maybe 150 yards of the Narrows before Ible and I called it quits and turned around. Not only was the water freezing cold, we lacked much of the gear that is needed to do that hike in the Narrows (I was barefoot). The views were amazing and the weather was perfect. ... rain we've seen in two weeks. The weather has been ranging from uncomfortably warm to searing hot for the trip (85-100 degrees) but today was cold. 35 degrees in Aspen and talk of snow. On Digger's last day we drove up through the high country north of Jefferson up over Georgia Pass (11,585ft on the Continental Divide) in his 'Lincoln Navigator' hire car - he had to change from his BMW 740 after the sunroof exploded!!!!. Test fired a few weapons......
Very pristine environment above the tree line. Not a good place to be in the middle of winter.....
Beautiful views and the Aspen trees just beginning to change colour as winter approaches....

... a real fright. It took me a little while to pull myself together, but we had a few good runs after that and I finally worked out how to get off the chair lift.

I was so proud of us! We returned our skis, deciding that was enough for a day, then went to the cafeteria and devoured some burgers after having missed breakfast. I was a bit sooky because I didn’t want to eat at the cafeteria – I felt we deserved to be waited on! Back ...
