... They were built over corn stalks with round heads and hats. We saw all sorts of costumes including roaring 20’, the sixties, the 70s, etc., and outfits from different walks of life. A spokesperson for the village said, the kookier and brighter the outfit, the better. Villagers put these “leaf people” out at the autumn equinox and they attract visitors to the village.

It had been a brilliant first week back in the United States and so good to be continuing our American Road Trip in the green green state of Vermont. After the brief scare at the US border, we had finally made it back into the 'Land of the Free'!
