... band but actually a torture device, consisting of an iron cabinet with a hinged front and spike-covered interior, sufficiently tall to enclose a human being. There was even a cage in which they put bakers in that made their bread too small and dipped them in the river. The museum was fascinating and disturbing. We enjoyed it.

After the crime museum we found the stairs to the town wall and walked around it. There's a good view from ...

But, when your that high up with winds gusting to 50mph, with an established fear of heights, its a bit scary. ... were there.

We felt people were rushing & pushing past us here. It was still a great place to visit, but just not our favourite.

We climbed the 400+ steps to the top of the bell tower which was a test for the claustrophobes amongst us. It started as quite wide circular steps and just kept narrowing to small wooden steps. The last bit was a very tight ladder ...

the 4:30am start was made bearable by the coffee and croissants as we boarded the Eurostar. Three trains later, (including two ICE's travelling a @ 240 kph much to Alex's delight) and 12 hours later we arrived in Nuremberg and met phil and Volker and picked up the cars to drive to Bayreuth. Dinner at our hotel was noisy as the ...
