        After Mount Rushmore we headed for home on Highway 90 E. We stopped at Wall Drug for the necessary buffalo burger and five cent coffee, managed to get away without any knickknacks, and took a few goofy photos for the blog.         ... I find my way back there? As summer schedules started to get busy and I'd need more than a week to see what I wanted, the solo adventure started to form. Besides, how many trip ideas have I had with either no one to come along or with some other factor thwarting my plans? Too many. So my suitcase is packed, I've got a cooler full of snacks, best mace in my pack, and my tent is in the back. I've got a few maps and a few ideas but no solid plan. Let the adventure ...

        ... after toll in the Chicagoland area. Traffic was also a mess going through the Dan Ryan Expressway and headed out past O'Hare airport, so we inched our way through the area. Illinois was also in a constant state of construction, so the highway was rarely in good form for traveling smoothly.

        We traveled 508 miles today, and arrived in our lovely campsite in Milton, WI around 6 PM, again with an easy setup. It felt good to get the Illinois drive behind us! ...
