... voor de Tongariro Alpine Crossing, een van de 'Great Walks' van Nieuw Zeeland. Omdat deze walk op redelijke hoogte is en je 7 uur lang over de steile hellingen van vulkanen loopt is het belangrijk om de weerstomstandigheden van tevoren goed te checken.

A 'Sweet As' Volcano trek
... amazing view either of us have ever seen. Just behind us was an active volcano (which stars as Mount Doom in Lord of the rings), then next to that was billowing steam coming from a vent in the hillside, in front of us were two emerald sulpur pools and a large crater lake and behind all of that you could see the hilly forest countryside for miles. This is why everyone raves about New Zealand's countryside.

Long drive
... new earrings I bought yesterday) we drove via the Houses of Parliament. From there it took me over 5 hours to get to Taupo (with a lunch stop on the way of course) where there is the largest lake in Australasia. The evening was spend catching up with my blogs and looking into where we are still going to go to Fiji after seeing the recent storms there in the news.

Sailing on lake Taupo..
... cruise, no sea sickness, as no waves like mountains and a very pleasant time spent on the water, I did always think a boat would be a good thing to have and now I know that I really enjoy it, barring rough seas of course! The carvings were good, they are intricate, took 5 craftsmen on a few narcotics about a year to complete (this from someone who knows..) and it is worth a look, even if its just for the sailing.
