Florence to Lucca
... same time. She's a better driver than navigator :-D.
Only hiccup so far was hot Sergio refusing to start when we stopped in Lucca to find the hotel. 10 minutes cooling whilst we grabbed a coke and off he went delivering us safely to our first destination and a well earned beer.

Day 4 - Rome - Pisa - Montecatini
Today we had a long drive from Rome to Pisa. We took the coastal road which allowed us to have some beautiful views of the Mediteranian Sea.
The trip took about 4 and a half hours. We arrived in Pisa at 1pm. The boys had some free time to have lunch and to view the leaning tower.
We headed off after that to a village near Montecini to watch a professional rugby match between Rovigo and ...
Well that's smaller than I thought it would be...
... a week where all the marble was stolen and reused in other sites. Beautiful marble work!! Almost blinding for pictures.
Had a lovely lunch on a side street from the Field of Miracles.
Kids got to "shop" a bit at the market.
On the way back to the Villa we stopped in Empoli at the "Super Coop", a very big grocery store, to pick up a few things. I found "Made in Manitoba bread flour" and "Canadian Maple Syrup".

School Day: Time for some homework
A rest day turned into a catch up day. Kids got to sleep in and relax in the morning and then catch up on some journaling. Rome was crazy busy and they needed time to take in what they had learned in Rome before we start the next leg of our journey in Tuscany.
Lots of naps today for David and I.
David took the kids out for a short drive around the countryside. They found a castle. They ended up in Empoli, the bigger centre in our area.

A Chocolate Ending
... with arms reaching for some pizza. For dinner, we ate some more Italian food, and treated ourselves to some cake. It was delicious: chocolate with chocolate cranberry sauce, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and sprinkled with cinnamon and chocolate flakes.
