Gorges Verdon... Route Napoleon

Gorgeous morning and a stunning place for breakfast awaited us just outside Scooby overlooking the lake. I went for a run but Kim was feeling a little under the weather so she stayed and made me breakfast - yay! We spotted two girls about our age and attempted to engage in some conversation but their English was limited and French is rubbish. Shame as its manily been the grey hair brigade we ...

A view of the Lac

Late start today but I managed a quick refreshing dip in the river before we set off. I said to Kim give me 5 minutes she reckoned I would only need 2! She was right. Easy drive to Lac du Ste-Croix which is a huge blue lake. We found a fantastic park overlooking the lake, alongside several ...

... are BMW, in Italy they are Alfas, and in France, it's the Renault that pulls you over.

But interestingly, in all the countries (including the little ones we went through) the taxis and the buses are all manufactured by Mercedes Benz. Well, I am not sure that this fact is something my boss & buddy Gary will be happy about..? or not..? I guess you could say that the Mercedes Benz is the "Work Horse ...

France: Ooh la la

We've entered France, our final stop before heading home. After over two weeks in Italy, as we were just getting comfortable with the language, the customs, the rules of the road and cruising speeds... what a shock it was to "Cross the border". Suddenly, all that was familiar was gone, a foreign language, road signs we were unable to decipher and we're exhausted from the road.

We're not ashamed to admit that after three + weeks of living out of suitcases (fortunately ...

Antibes and St-Tropez

... Sailboats were docked at the marina (knez, it made me think of you). Diane ordered mussles and Jon and I had our first mussels ever. They were delicious. Thank you Diane for helping me discover my love for sea food. St-Tropez was further than we thought, but thank god we ...

Life is beautiful

... have in your possesion what it costs to live in the country for at least three months to gain residency. While we were there, we got to see the palace, and the gardens. It was beautiful!! i could sit there and just look out over the sea for hours. Very peaceful. We saw the changing of the guards, we were told it is a similar ceremony to the one in London, and look around the old village...which consists of three count them ...

... wallowing in self pity from the lack of anything to do, or anywhere to go and missing my family :( A little later on a few people decided to go to church, even though none of them were actually Catholic, or even Christian for that matter, which was a nice escape from the monotony of the hostel all day. Hopefully tonight will be an early night and tomorrow will be filled with many different sights and shopping in Nice!
