      ... Corser, Stoner, Hailwood. Tour group included Graham Moore who brought xxxxxxx into v8 racing and father and son from Perth who had an inflatable display tent business. Also a couple of Malay guys from Kuantan who own Ducatis. Dinner at xxxx Osteria in lane way near piazza. Recomended by Lonely Planet. Tagliatelle Ragu (spag Bol) and Greek salad with a beer and 250cl carafe for 20€. Nice food and nice family ...

      ... me :-) Over lunch Joanna mentioned a a walk to a great viewing point just pitside the old city walls through 666 porticos. I thought it would be a great idea to go for a walk after such a big lunch and a very late lunch, I think I left at around 4pm. The Portico of San Luca - 3.8 km or 666 porticos leads up to the basilica Sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca. Each portico is numbered so you can work out how far along the journey you are.       ... I couldn't get the first door to open - it flashed green but the door seemed to be jammed. Just as I was heading back to reception, one of the bar staff walked around the corner so I asked him for assistance. He tried and tried and tried. He called someone else who tried and tried and tried. Then they called the tour leader (a Japanese group I think) of the girl who is in room 212B and they tried calling her. No answer.       ... was quite impressed (means it must be good because he makes a very mean spag bol). We were very surprised when we set off yesterday morning because there were no vehicles or people on the streets, and we soon found out why - there was a very large protest of people from many towns in Italy marching around the centre of the city towards the main Piazza (we assume they were protesting about the economic situation and working conditions).       ... say about Bologna is the smoking. you cannot smoke inside buildings, but smoking is allowed every where else. I am sure I have smokers cough. You cannot get away from the cigarettes anywhere. But that is Italy. I guess I was in the city more here than other places. Anyway, the smoking got to us because the streets are fantastic to walk on. Other cities have small roads with hardly any pedestrian area.
