This morning we sadly say goodbye to New Orleans and head off to our next destination. We're not exactly certain where we will end up tonight, but have an intention to follow a bit of a blues trail to Indianola then Clarksdale. It is about 5 hours or so to Clarksdale, so not sure if we want to drive that far. In a stroke of luck, the car hire people come and pick us up from the hotel and drive us to their office downtown where we complete the necessary paperwork before heading out ...

... as a town even, we were getting pretty nervous as we neared our destination. But once we turned off the main highway, another couple of main roads wound down to where the large town of Monticello is nestled. There's even a large Walmart!

We headed back to the hotel for a good night sleep before a long ...

... our own. I was to nervous to try that option. Just about two blocks away was a river park. There we walked out a board walk to look at the Mississippi. There river was big but not huge, but I don't think we were at a wide spot of the river. It was pretty none the less. It was hard to enjoy the beauty of the river though as there was a ridiculously loud noise coming from what we can only assume to be cicadas in the nearby trees. Their little shells ...

After a scary couple of days with Daddy's health, we were grateful that everything was still a go (just what sort of grammar is that...) and pulled out of our driveway just after 8:00 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010. A mere .5 blocks into this three week, 4000 mile adventure, Keith committed a recordable infraction (the recording of these is a K/s roadtrip tradition). Here's what happened: After observing Susie ...
