... we walked around town to see the sights.
That evening we went where we thought would be a nice quite place to camp for the evening at the top of a hill over looking the old city. Turned out to be a noisy hangout for everyone finishing up from the bars. The noise regulations in latin America seem to be non-existent. So we spent another night listening to loud mouths early into the morning. I don't mind the sounds of bongo drums, but it is interesting that people feel ...
... as it should've been because rain traffic killed the traffic lines to bus station.
-Lights shut off at Bogota bus station due to blackout
-Heavy traffic leaving Bogota thus delaying three hours
-Smelling fried grease (in reality - overactive sweat glands) on the bus
-Watching horror movies only on the night bus
-Tired achy joints from awkward sleeping positions
-Missed the stop to the volcano
-Waited 3 ...

We left our large rucksack and headed up to Segovia the first site. It was a steep 30minute climb from the museum but nothing to what we would have to endure later, had we known we may have stopped right there. The museum was at 1500m altitude, whereas Segovia was at 1600m. Segovia consisted of about 10 covered area's, each covered area protecting from the environment three or four tombs each. Each tomb was padlocked and someone was ...
... ahead and said no to the taxi stop here, he wouldn't have made it. We paid him and walked the final kilometre to something called Canopy. We were led to believe it would cost $18mil pesos each. It was partly true but there were additionals. There was a ride called canopy which consisted of 6 zip lines of variously increasing descents and lengths, it was that which cost $18mil pesos, and was probably worth ...
Popayan, Colombia casebrownfamily... Cities like Paris are always very pretty for Christmas but they are predictable and Medellin is definitely above the rest with a creativity and colors difficult to match. At 10pm on a random December Wednesday, the streets are full of people while the Rio is literally packed. Good vibes.
Medellin, Colombia bernadtom... reminder to all of you reading this... every single person reading this is privileged. You should be happy, ecstatic really- to be who you are. You have been educated and are able to read. You have options and opportunities in your life that millions and millions of children can not even fathom. Please look around you- and for at least a moment... see everything that you have and know that you are truly blessed. *btw- the photos of the family from the Quilotoa Loop are Jessica's family.
Medellìn, Colombia allisonakemi... coffee,..I cant get enough of the stuff!!! Headed back to the centre to buy gifts,..before heading to the bus terminal and on to the airport for our 10 pm flight. In a flash we arrived in Guayaquil, Ecuador which was a very strange feeling.. Pretty sad to leave Colombia it was a fantastic adventure and I would love to explore more,..plus it was great to share it with Carolina;)
Medellin, Colombia harryharste... cula.
Medellin, Medellin, Colombia javierferrin... or dark, as it would be almost impossible to move anywhere. At this point we got our cameras back out and started snapping. After descending some of the way down the hill we made it to Dona Oliva's house. As we walked in through the open door, two women greeted us all. They had been expecting us as Tatiana had spoken to Dona Oliva her on the phone. They were both smiley and welcoming, but there was some caution in their gaze. I guess we were two ...
Medellin, Colombia sheenasumaria... stupid stupid stupid. I guess I’d heard of others sending money, so figured it was easy. This was my budget for a three-month trip, remember, and I carried no credit cards. ATM’s didn’t even exist I don’t think. Visas were stamps you got in your passport and the main credit card was BankAmericard. Anyway, whether I knew in advance or not, I know ...
