My first stuff up of the trip has occurred. Tried to hire a car to drive to Vegas tomorrow and there were no cars available then the bus we are getting if we had booked yesterday we would have saved $20 per person.

Anyway off to Vegas tomorrow and really looking forward to it. Sammy gets his own room on Monday to Thursday so I think him and I will be locked up in there watching hoops.

... questions. They whisked her off to a private room for a thorough bag search and a full body frisk. They tested the gloves they used for the frisk which this time passed the test. Who knows what that was all about? At least it does make you feel safe.

There is very little to see out of the window, just sea and cloud until you get to mainland USA. The place is massive, really massive. Even so Claire was first to spot the Hollywood sign, we had arrived.

... komen we weer terug op de snelweg. De tom tom verteld ons dat we nog zeker 3 en half uur moeten rijden voor we in LA zijn en dus besluiten we nu gewoon richting het huisje te rijden. En zo gaan we op weg Sam heeft hier het stuur weer overgenomen en kan ik even om me heen kijken en genieten van het landschap. En zo schieten we lekker op, na anderhalf uur stoppen we even op een parkeerplaats voor een sanitaire stop, in een wc waarin vooral blaadjes hangen met sorry ...

... the hollywood sign in the distant hills just a few steps outside our hostel. The Hollywood walk of fame was also a few minutes walk away, Hollywood was a bit smaller than we imagined and also a bit grubbier but i did enjoy spotting the famous peoples names on the walk of fame like Audrey Hepburn , and reading the messages around the hand and foot prints outside the kodak theatre. I also found a star with my grandad's name ...

Stopover #2: Los Angeles, California USA

12 hour stopover, and in LAX no less? No thank you. We went to the Santa monica pier instead to kill a few hours. Had very intriguing bus rides there and back. One because we had some luggage, two because of all the interesting characters on the bus. I would choose that over the mind-numbing boredom of LAX any day.
