Historical Traveler Reviews La Guriniere Malakoff

Great Find in Paris!

from travelfrance

We stayed with Micheline and Jean Paul twice during a 6 month travel experience in Europe and LaGurniere feeks like home.

Our first visit was for 4 nights at Easter. We used Micheline's garden for an easter egg hunt and she even provided some special Easter treats for our children.

The B&B is in Malakoff, a typically French neighbourhood with a fabulous weekend market. The metro ride into town is short and the station is very close to the B&B. The rooms are comfortable and immaculate. The breakfast is fresh, warm and plentiful.

For our first visit, Jean Paul directed us via cell phone into their neighbourhood where we found him out on the street , cell phone in hand, watching for our car. When we stayed the 2nd time Micheline remembered my daughter loves steamed milk and my husband and I use LARGE mugs for our coffee.

A great find in Paris!

Family pleased...

from Hughsey

This B & B was our first experience as we usually hotel.

As per tripadvisor we felt a good choice for our family with two boys ages 5 & 7.

The trip from Paris to Malakoff is nothing. A few metro stops.

The walk from the inn is a few minutes.

This is a lovely place to stay. Immaculate, charming from all aspects, outside and within rooms.

Our boys were delighted with their little sleep loft above our heads that allowed us some privacy but to keep an eye on them too.

I loved the beautiful breakfasts which are home-baked croissants and chocolat au pain with Micheline's delicious jams. Banana was devine. Fresh brewed coffee and juice. Kid's ate the yogurt and cereal too.

The owners are quite prideful and helpful for your stay. Directions, suggestions and even went out of their way to help us with our laundry even though they were very busy.

I liked that you could breathe fresh cool air at night and have somewhat peaceful sleep :)

Rapport qualité/prix exceptionnel

Nous y avons malheureusement séjourné qu'une seule nuit et l'accueil de la propriétaire, comme la qualité des lieux et du petit déjeuner, fut mémorable.

Perfection!!

We found this place totally by chance whilst raking through what seemed thousands of hotels... once seen never forgotton!! We arrived later than expected but we were still warmly welcomed, with a long cool drink! My husband and I both reckon we got the hottest weekend this year, so to be so close to 'home' after a long day around Paris was a luxury! The town was lovely and the market on a Sunday morning was fantastic... the rooms are beautiful and clean and with there only being 3 bedrooms the service was impeccable!! The breakfast was homemade and delicious, infact the whole concept of La Guriniere was great and we would definately go back!! Thankfully the proprietors 'English' was far better than our 'French', which was extremely helpful when booking...speaking of which, try to book early, I hear they are taking reservations to 2009 already!!! Many Thanks Micheline, You made a wonderful weekend perfect!!

Psst!! don't tell anyone

My wife and I cannot think of a nicer place to stay.

An easy run by Metro into Paris central, and in a small village, with access to laundry, internet, and good restuarants.

The rooms are spacious as well as very clean, and the added bonus is the garden, which affords us time to relax after a hetic day in Paris proper.

La Guriniere is a well kept secret, so don't foget to book well in advance because it will not be a secret, for too much longer.

We were been really looked after at La Guriniere.

My best wishes to our hosts, Micheline and Jean-Paul

No Typical B & B

from calgaryca

La Guriniere is exactly what we had hoped it would be, a beautiful B & B with lots of charm and character. Of course it is very clean and organized in a quiet comfortable setting. The restored old house with modern amenities only adds to its warm and cozy feeling. We spent our first three nights there before going to the south of France. The best part was knowing that we would be returning to La Guriniere the night before we flew home. It is hard to believe but it was a even more enjoyable the second time around. And Micheline arranged for us to have the same room. While Micheline takes on most of the running of La Guriniere with her personal attention Jean Paul is very mush involved. They both are caring enthusiastic and life loving people with great sense of humor. We were recommended La Guriniere by friends who stayed there a few months before, and with good reason. We felt very much like friends with Micheline and Jean Paul and it added much to our visit to France.

An beautiful oasis within Paris

from eartab

We have just returned from two week trip to Scotland and Normandy. We spent our last two nights of our trip, in Paris, at an oasis in the city. Surrounded by gardens of Flowers, the La Guriniere bed and breakfast was our refuge from the crowds of Paris. Fully renovated with modern amenities, this 19th century home provided everything we wanted as well as a quiet night's sleep without traffic noise. When we returned each day after exploring, we were warmly greeted with a freshened room and great discussion.

The breakfast was also excellent with local bakery bread and pastries including many made by our hosts.

Located at the edge of Paris city in Malakoff, the metro is just a couple of blocks way. No need for cabs and the usual.

We could not asked for more.

Home away from home.

We were slogging thru mediocre reviews of hotels in central Paris when we came across La Guriniere and it was like a breath of fresh air. Our stay did not disappoint. Clean, quiet, cozy, excellenty-furbished rooms, plus fresh homemade breakfast every morning. Micheline, je manqe vos croissants et votre confiture! Although it's on the outskirts of Paris in safe, clean Malakoff, it's a quick metro ride to all the sites in central Paris. After a long day when your feet are tired and your head is spinning, you get off the metro in Malakoff and hear...silence. C'est magnifique. Micheline at Jean-Paul, merci. J'espère vous visiter encore!

Wonderful B&B near Paris!

from sherpamom

We went to Paris to visit our daughter who was doing study abroad and staying with a family in Malakoff. The family actually found La Guriniere for us as they wanted our daughter to stay with them for a few additional days. What a find! It was considerably cheaper than the hotel we had booked in Paris, and the owners were so delightful! Staying there was the highlight of our first trip to Paris. The breakfasts were delicious, the room was spotlessly clean and so charming. The owners treated us like we were family, and couldn't have been more accomodating. We were only a few blocks from the Metro stop, and the Malakoff market on Sunday was full of interesting and friendly people and good buys. Most heartily recommend! And we will definitely return!

A Great Find in the City!

from Arizona828

We happened upon this amazing little place due to a referral from another B&B we stayed at on our France trip. It was really a beautiful oasis in the middle of a big town. It is actually in Malakoff, which is less than a 15 minute metro ride from Invalides. Honestly-it is worth the trip. In faxt, we tried to cancel our hotel in the downtown Paris area to stay 2 more nights, but were unable to do so. The rooms were spotless and gorgeous. The hosts were so very, very helpful. (both during our stay and before we arrived-via e-mail) We were given lots of wonderful advice, were able to spend one of our evenings drinking a glass of wine and tea with them and .....the breakfasts---fresh out of the oven crossiants and pain au chocolats. And-Jean-Paul took us on a lovely tour of the town. I can't reccommend this place enough. It is about a 5 minute walk from the metro-but that is nothing. The only problem I can see for some is if you do not want to make the 15 minute ride into downtown Paris. But-believe me-after the long, long days spent walking and seeing the sights-it was a very welcomed retreat. Try it.
