Today was supposed to be a rain day so we planned things that didn't require good weather. As it turned out it was a beautiful day - probably over 19 degrees!! We started out at the Folk Center - many great pieces from local artisans including quilting, pottery, paintings, woodworking, jewellery no more. Then we drove to the Builtmore Estate - home of the Vanderbuilts. We didn't actually see it ... A very ...

There is no trail, however, and it’s a very difficult bushwhack. The bushwhack is less than a half-mile, but took us nearly an hour and was incredibly strenuous. We climbed through dense rhododendron, belly-crawled under thick vegetation, and managed to cross a ...

... to drive up to Linn Viaduct like we had thought we might so we turned around & headed back towards Wayneville on the interstate. We had a stop at a place near to Waynesville called Lake Janaluska. It was a pretty, well groomed community with a little lake from a dammed up creek. It felt very "churchy" & we realized it was the head quarters for the Methodist church. Had a coffee & ice cream & then went back to Waynesville. We went to the B&B & relaxed ...
