make up for the lack of Magic yesterday we went to the Beauval Zoo!!!
Whooppee! I must admit, had it not been the major draw of there being
Sloths we probably would of bypassed, but this was too good to refuse
and made for a lovely Valentines!! Once again we practically had the
place to ourselves, and most animals were in their indoor enclosures
and curious as to their visitors so we really got up close ...
to the lovely Blois this morning, although it was a little
disappointing as the 'Musee de Magic' was not open. Should have never
told Ella about it as it got her excited! (It was the former home of
the French 'Houdin' who the American Houdini got his name from. But
we ended up exploring all the quiet backstreets of Blois, very quiet
and built into the hills so many ...
... his works/inventions etc. VERY cool and definitely a big plus in low season as it was very quiet. Some really awesome inventions, so ahead of his time, but some really gruesome military inventions too!! Spent a night at a winery after purchasing a few of their bottles...of ...
... had over 3 glasses...and that's before 11am! He took us through the incredible caves where barrels are left in a perfect temp to age. Really fantastic as it was a Chateau and all the stone was quarried from those caves, leaving tunnels and smaller homes, still had all the alcoves for pigeons to use as messengers. We got to our campsite nice and early to chill...this moving about can be hard ...
