What else but Wine?

... enjoy the city.

Luckily for us the weather was beautiful the next day and we drove into the city to hjave a look around. Bordeaux is very pretty and has many impressive buildings. It is cut in half by a river that flows into the ocean. The bottom of the river is made of clay and because the water is always moving so quickly the water looks really dirty. Its red and brown but its only because the clay is always worked up in the water. We walked ...

... t et Chandon while we celebrated with the newlyweds. Finally about 6:30 things came to an end. Hervé and Helen left for their honeymoon and most of the rest of us were invited to the Bernals’ home for a lasagna dinner. After dinner, Daniel and Cindy Harper showed slides of their recent trip to Thailand which they had very much enjoyed. It was another very pleasant occasion, and a fine end to a wonderful day.

Bordeaux day 2

... on the quality of the fruits and vegetables. Things must be just ripe and at their best, not picked a week early for shipment somewhere. As a result the salads and raw vegetables served with vinaigrettes of various kinds are wonderful. I made a meal of the salad bar and was quite content.

After dinner I worked on preparing the sermon I will give tomorrow. And I decided to make an early night of it. As I was working I received a text message from my good friend ...

The flow to Bordeaux

This morning I was up and out of the hotel just after sunup for the drive to Charles de Gaulle airport. I arrived with plenty of time, and filled the tank with diesel before turning the car in. The flight to Bordeaux left at 1:10 and arrived on time about 2:30. On our take-off route over Paris, we again had a pretty clear view of the city. The Eiffel Tower is the easiest landmark to ...

Bordeaux, St Emillion, Medoc

We spent our first day in Bordeaux relaxing and wandering around the city. Ate a few baguettes.

The next day we caught a train to St Emilion to check out the beautiful little village.

On our last day we did a wine tour of Medoc ...

... but vines could be seen. Big juicy grapes soaking up the sunshine and hanging low below the leaves.

Vines and vines as far as the eye can see. Every once in awhile a Grande Chateau shows itself above the grape leaves. Enormous stone pillars supporting elaborate iron-worked gates mark the entrance from the road. Many of these offer ‘vente direct’ ...

Dune de Pyla

We visited the Dune du Pyla today, a 100m high natural sand dune on the south edge of Archachon.
There is a large car park at the base and, conveniently, steps up the side for those in high heels or carrying dogs (we saw both)

Seriously, how did that conversation go this morning?:
"Honey, were visiting a large sand dune, are you ...

... a tasting at the end and I had mine mixed with a bit of soda water, haha lame I know but what can I say. Maxwell spent a lot of money and got a bottle about the size of my head which he claims he is saving to share with everyone at hiphop kemp. Like that´s going to last in our van till September!! In the afternoon we were so sick of rain that we thought maybe heading to the south west coast would see an improvement of weather, so we set off to a village called ...
