Burano is further out than Murano and it takes nearly a half hour on the vaporetti to get there. The waterbus seems to be moving at an excruciatingly slow speed as it's only 6 or 8 km from Murano. Once you arrive, there's no mistaking which direction to head as shops welcome you as soon as you step off. Focus and move through the first street and you'll really get into the bright colored houses. ...
Venice Wandering
... Oops. The island doesn't seem to have much excitement, even the main street - the Gran Viale was pretty quiet though it had a number of shops and eateries. I just couldn't imagine the film festival taking place here. Perhaps it was because I couldn't find the palazzo for movies. Maybe next time. Lido otherwise feels very residential and a good place to get away from most of the tourists.
