      Come to Como

We arrived in Como after a long drive from Bassano via Verona and the Hertz office to replace, yet again, the GPS. The Neverlost might be the case on the odd occasion that it works, but without it getting lost is actually quite simple. Anyway, we found the office and a very kind man who quickly replaced the unit and we were on our way. Verona had been recommended to us as a place to visit - not sure why. It is a flat industrial city with plenty ...

      Not so glamorous Bergamo

Leaving Milano, we started the day with Bergamo which is an ancient town about 40 km east of Milan we've been hearing a lot about. I have to admit that it wasn't as great as I thought it would be. Maybe it's just me setting my expectation too high.
The old town (citta alta) is up on the hill and we had to take ...

      Bergamo and the Alps

... It ended up being a winding road up the mountain curving around the entire thing. What we thought would take about 10 minutes, probably took a half an hour. However, we finally arrived at the castle, which was beautiful and had amazing views as well.

After spending time in the old city, we decided to go back to the lower city for dinner (we were very tired due to lack of sleep). We grabbed some pizza ...

      Bright lights big city

A travel blog entry by lcmckay on Oct 13, 2014

... walk into town and explore, Italians has different concepts of what is walkable than us they said we would have to catch the train but if we didn't stop at multiple shops along the way it would have only taken us half an hour. Milan is very different to the rest of Italy it's very material lost of flash shops and cars and everyone looks so fake it was definitely my least favourite Italian city but I'm still glad we ...

      Not so great, Milan

... went for tea. I quite enjoyed it. I think Ruby was a little disappointed. It certainly wasn’t worth the 30 euro it cost us for a plate of green veggies and mushroom pasta that was just mushroom and pasta in olive oil – no cream sauce! All in all, not one of the best days of our European vacation but we’re excited to explore Venice tomorrow!
