We are spending a few days in Trelew this town which was one of the main places where the Welsh settlers established themselves back in 1860.

There is a cute little museum here in the old railway station where you can see how these first settlers arrived and lived. We left Ushuaia with our fingers crossed in the taxi on the way to the airport that there weren't new ash problems and Calafate airport would be open – we’re flying back to Rio Gallegos but via El Calafate. When we got to the airport we found out that there were problems and our plane was being diverted….direct to Rio Gallegos!! ... no fueramos a mas de 50kms/h porque algunos iban a 100kms/h y volcaron (100kms/h en una carretera de tierra... ¿ qué locura?). Bueno, así un montón de cosas más. Así que decidimos eso totalmente acojonados.
Luego la verdad es que nos djijeron en el hotel que no era para tanto, pero no dejando nada de valor a la vista es suficiente, pero vamos, que aun estamos asimilando la cosa.
Así que fuimos al hotel en la que nos alojamos ...

... wash and ended up buying everything we needed, apart from, yes you guessed it, contact lens wash. We found some sweets to stop us feeling sick on long bus journeys and bought a supply of water and also our new favourite, emergency savoury biscuits.
