... people how to get to A-19 A-20, all said they didn't know. We pulled out of the rental car lot, went into the round about and there was the sign to A-19 a-20. One of the rental car attendants had said you will have to call the hotel and have them come get you. When we got to the hotel we decided to take the bus to Monreale so we asked the concierge about the bus. We needed to buy tickets in advance at at tobacco shop, but they were all closed on Sunday. Cabs ...

We arrived in Palermo around 6pm and it was almost dark. We quickly realised that the city is worse than Hillbrow in Johannesburg in certain areas (thanks to a road closure due to a street carnival and the GPS) and a really smart Mediterranean sea-side city only a few blocks away.

... lazing on the beach just not yet. Back to the room for a good cooked brekky and we then hit the coastal road further west along the north coast of Sicily. We found a cute little locals place for a coffee stop and then found a spot right on the beach as the sun was setting for our late lunch.

We knew we were in Palermo once we hit traffic. We then noticed the rubbish in the roads, the run down places, and the dodgy characters walking ...

We have used tiles and wood, rocks, stones, and logs to block the holes on the chimney from allowing the wind to rush down and fill the house with smoke. Usually one or both Wade and I are standing in the rain and wind on the roof screaming over the balcony…”how’s that? Is that better? Does that work? How’s the smoke now? Is it still coming in?” ...

... 8217;re cold you can retreat to a nice hot shower, no not here. The hot water was at best luke warm, and showering turned into a chore that we both hated. One night at dinner I told Luke that I wanted to throw myself into a pizza oven, Hansel and Gretel style, just to feel the warmth. The final straw was the bed. The springs could be seen from the surface of the mattress and you would wake in the middle of the night aching ...
