... br> Also it was that time of the day ( around 5pm) when the fathers returned from the fishing trip which explained all the calling- making it know they wanted feeding.

This was a fantastic experience. We were able to walk so close to the penguins and they appeared completely unafraid of us, so pleased we took this tour!

Oh, and one more thing.... we got our official 'end of the world' stamp in our passports as we got off the boat! :)

... in Usuaia and enjoy the city lights, wondering what the place will look like tomorrow morning. More than 16 hours have passed since we first left Río Gallegos (12 hours since we left for the second time with a full tank of gas). The hotel room is comfortable and warm, like a mountain cabin. Finding sleep is easy, except for this high-pitch voice in my head that keeps repeating: "You are in Ushuaia"!

... head down there. I met a French Canadian guy there who had packed all his camping gear and was headed out into the park for a nine day trek on his own. Another fellow went and hiked up the local glacier overlooking the town. He showed me photos of the steep, snowy ascent. ... of smart shops and stores as well as sometimes quite tacky "tourist trap" places selling the usual key rings, plastic penguins etc (all seemingly marked “Made in China” – so what’s new…). There is a bank for every day of the week in the main street named San Martin, a Carrefour supermarket, plenty of service stations selling fuel at much lower prices than up north, and some smart hotels and ski lodges scattered around the town.

What an adventure getting there...no...what a terrible journey. We set off from the hostel at some ungodly hour in the morning then rushed through check-in to find the flight was... well, it didn't really say. All it said was to talk to staff. However, the staff didn't want to be talked to. They just repeated, "No informacion ahora." The problem turned out to be very simple.
