We woke on Wednesday and enjoyed another French breakfast before walking down to the local markets. While the nik naks were tacky, the food was amazing. Genuine sun-dired tomatoes, an array of cheeses and a pigs head stuffed with many, many different meats (photo).
We swung past a bakery to grab some take away lunch (including a croque monsieur) and ate in the park.

... Of course there was a display featuring "Nemo", the clown fish. They are ridiculously small but are brightly colored and just plain cute. The eels freaked us out. I extremely dislike them, always have. Ugly fish snakes. What is your purpose?! We were all fished out and took in the city from the roof before walking back to the train station. It had been a long day with a lot of walking. But what a great day at that. We saw money and bling, a beautiful city and finally dipped our feet in the ...
... up with some guys from the hostel and head to Monaco to see the sights the next day.
Very small, wealthy and exclusive we were impressed by the multimiillion dollar yachts, cars and hotels which seemed to be in every direction we looked. We spent the day exploring and concluded our stay by checking out the casino, which is what you would expect from ...
... br> Back in Cannes we regrouped at a cafe (with toilet) and worked out a plan.............motorway to Monaco and then take the 'scenic route'. We also gave the Twingo driver (Sam) total control and the rest of us simply followed. The temperature was knocking on 31 deg so it was all about staying calm and enjoying the view!
Sam lead us right into the heart of Monte Carlo where we took a break and enjoyed mingling with the...........it ...
... meal of spatchcock chicken with roast potatoes and veg..............brilliant!
The evening ended with a 'knowledge game' which, despite knowing many of the answers, the 'oldies' weren't quick enough to provide much of a challenge. However, given that the big prize was a leftover legume, we weren't too worried!!
So ends another great day in Fayence..............
