We arrived in Nice with high expectations having come here 12 years ago and loved it. After a relatively long drive from Beaune (Burgundy Region) we finally arrived in our destination. This was our first Airbnb that we booked on our own. There were a couple speed bumps...smelly towels, no paper towels, broken drawers...BUT the location was phenomenal and there is something to say about having ...

Genova is a lovely harbour and city. But parking is a bit difficult. Had my lunch. Filled up and headed for Nice. Toll from venice to the french boarders 23.5 euros.
So. Bye bye Italia. I forgive you the Bolzano treatment.
I followed the coast from genova to nice. The road is very twisty but i was heading west and it was late afternoon so the sun was in my eyes ...
... br> Back in Cannes we regrouped at a cafe (with toilet) and worked out a plan.............motorway to Monaco and then take the 'scenic route'. We also gave the Twingo driver (Sam) total control and the rest of us simply followed. The temperature was knocking on 31 deg so it was all about staying calm and enjoying the view!
Sam lead us right into the heart of Monte Carlo where we took a break and enjoyed mingling with the...........it ...
... meal of spatchcock chicken with roast potatoes and veg..............brilliant!
The evening ended with a 'knowledge game' which, despite knowing many of the answers, the 'oldies' weren't quick enough to provide much of a challenge. However, given that the big prize was a leftover legume, we weren't too worried!!
So ends another great day in Fayence..............
... the edge......only to realise there was nothing between us and sure death...............the gorge is 700m deep and we were looking straight down!
Unfortunately, all the picnic areas were taken so we made do with a few rocks for a table and very successfully conjured up some great baguettes. Not before time as we were all starving! Then it was more driving to see the gorge 'proper'.
