It was five days of heading to the beach, walking around some very pretty Mediterranean towns, experiencing the famed rudeness of people from the region, ogling rich people with their expensive cars and terrifyingly wrinkly tans, and eating way too many pains au chocolat. All that leads to a pretty darn good time. We met up with Olympio in Cannes, walked at least three loops ...

Sam lead us right into the heart of Monte Carlo where we took a break and enjoyed mingling with ...

... meal of spatchcock chicken with roast potatoes and veg..............brilliant!

The evening ended with a 'knowledge game' which, despite knowing many of the answers, the 'oldies' weren't quick enough to provide much of a challenge. However, given that the big prize was a leftover legume, we weren't too worried!!

So ends another great day in Fayence..............

... the edge......only to realise there was nothing between us and sure death...............the gorge is 700m deep and we were looking straight down!

Unfortunately, all the picnic areas were taken so we made do with a few rocks for a table and very successfully conjured up some great baguettes. Not before time as we were all starving! Then it was more driving to see the gorge 'proper'.

Gorges de Verdon is a hard place to ...
