    ... and Francesco played the piano for us. What a great time. At about midnight, we told our wonderful hostess that we needed to be getting going, and clamored into Robertos car to head back to the walled city. After many hugs and kisses, we left my sweet friend, and walked the desolate streets back to our hotel. It had been a wonderful night with wonderful friends.     ... were eating our gelato. Once we'd finished......they had 3 kids under 10, introduced ourselves and chatted for a while. It was their second time in Lucca, using it as a base to explore the region.

    We had contemplated staying on for a Puccini concert but given the black clouds approaching, didn't. A good job, as it subsequently poured. It was hard enough that it definitely affected the patronage at the bar/caffetteria/gelateria opposite. ...

    ... had advised a young Korean couple who were on their honeymoon, who looked at bit lost not to get off at what turned out to be the correct stop, so they too had an unintended bit of extra bus ride.
