As you may have gathered, Naples fails to give a good first impression. Of all the cities I have visited, the closest parallel is Cairo. They both seem impoverished and ancient, grimy and graffitied, chaotic and colorful.

... Toleda. We each had pasta - Dale had vermicelli with mussels and pumpkin blossoms which was the most interesting and flavourful.

Given the wet,cool and overcast weather, we decided to head back to the ship - we know that another cruise in the future will take us back to Naples, hopefully with better weather.

Back on board, we played the card game kaiser again - Dale and I won both games so we gloated a little bit as that doesn't happen ...

... I did get a good little tour of some parts of the city and it was not too impressive. Lots of traffic and litter in the streets. An hour later I was boarded my regional train to Salerno. I almost fell asleep on the air conditioned train, it was so nice to be cool. It is humid here right now. It was a short train ride of 30 minutes and some nice views of the mountains.
