... out to Giovanni and Agata’s home in the country side by Ciara and her lovely family and we tour Giovanni’s extensive home garden and learn how to prepare Scaccia (a delicious baked item similar to calzone) filled with various fillings – ricotta and onions, melanzane and tomato, fave beans and ricotta and tomato sugo with cheese. After cooking we sit down to a meal with the family and enjoy great food and company. The next day we return to Giarre via Catania.

... and drove to our hotel in the village of Ragusa. This town suffered the same earthquake damage as the others. All of these villages are high on hillsides so would be very suseptible to natural disasters such as earthquakes and landslides.

We had a horrible time finding our hotel in Ragusa. It is a lovely hotel but really, really hard to find. We finally just parked the car, took the Garmin and found the hotel.

... walked over to the Temple of Apollo, which had monolithic columns. There wasn't a whole lot left of this temple. But it was still interesting to see.

We walked back to our hotel and had a drink on our patio. We both worked on some computer stuff and enjoyed the sunset over the water.
