Day 22. Zermatt.....relax at last.

Today was going to be relaxing, no excuses. We cycled into
Sion and caught a train up to the tourist center of Zermatt which is famous for
its amazing view of the Matterhorn.

The train trip was uneventful and we sat back like rich
people watching the scenery go by from air-conditioned comfort. One change of
train at Visp and two hours later we were in Zermatt.

Day 21. Pyramids of Euseigne

... of the Matterhorn. This route took us via the town of Heremence
which is a typical Swiss mountain village with the usual pretty chalets and
geranium displays.

After stopping for a quick meal and drink and noticing that
we were way ahead of the bus arrival we decided to change plan and walk back to
Sion instead of catching the bus. Well if yesterday’s walk was along “37 corner
path” this walk was along “no corner ...

... down, we reluctantly left the lake before the "show" was finished. But to our surprise, the view from the nearby bluff was even better, with the sunlight lighting up the snowy white mountain behind us. Above it, hung a perfect moon. More clicking of our cameras and more exclaiming of our fabulous fortune. Not only did we get to see the Matterhorn, but we were treated to an amazing sunset that will forever be part of our memories.

Day 20. 37 corner path and other walking.

... being extremely damp is home to many different
varieties of mushrooms, ferns and moss. On the way down we met up with an Adder
Snake which had just shed its skin.

The interesting part of the descent is that although it is
extremely steep and rocky, there are tracks that indicate that some maniacs
actually ride mountain bikes down these paths.

Eventually we arrived at a small group of chalets called
Gueuroz. These were probably holiday homes but a few ...

... Zinal. After a couple of hours of sitting on the mountain in the rain, we gave it up and went back down to the Hotel de La Poste and spent much of our time working on our photos. Even the ones you have seen before are better so here they are!
