We'll be back! What else is there to say?
Korner Kottage is a wonderful B&B. Go there!
Located within walking distance of shops, restaurants, a movie theatre, and art galleries, it is the perfect place to stay in Suttons Bay. Lots of other fun things to do on the peninsula are just minutes away by car.
Reasonably priced, spotless, comfortable accommodations; friendly, gracious hosts Linda & Jim; gourmet breakfast, hot coffee, & espresso brewed by the cup; are all reasons to check it out.
It was our first trip to the area, but not our last, and we'll surely stay at Korner Kottage next time. Can't wait!
Loved Korner Kottage!
Korner Kottage was the first Bed & Breakfast I had stayed in. Upon arriving, I was amazed at the immediate hospitality and the level of cleanliness. Our room was quant and cozy with a private bathroom. To top it off, Jim's breakfasts were incredible!! Make time to visit the beautiful garden, too....
Loved Korner Kottage, Suttons Bay!
Linda and Jim the owners of Korner Kottage make you feel right at home from the moment you step into their home.
We were welcomed with warm cookies, instructions on how to work the coffee pot (a must for us), and a smile. First night at Korner Kottage was spent enjoying the late evening sat on the screened in porch reading books found in our beautiful cozy room. Breakfast both days was wonderful and our friends who never experienced the B & B seen loved it.
Korner Kottage is in a great location sat between Travis City, and my new favorite spot Fishtown, also there are several great wineres close by.
We all had a great time in Suttons Bay and will return again to stay at Korner Kottage!
Only the best B & B I have ever stayed at-awesome place
Let me start by saying I have probably been to over 200 or so B & B's all over Michigan and otherwise, so I know my stuff. I can without a doubt, say that Korner Kottage was the best of all of them, hands down. I felt just like I was at home and they made me feel like family. The rooms are so charming, I never had a better night's sleep. I first stayed for a weekend and then went back this past July for 10 days, it was great. I am going back in November again, this is my new favorite place to be. The rooms are soooooo cute, warm and inviting. I cried when I left cuz I was so sad to leave after a whole week of being pampered and treated like family. I love the cute bathroom we had all to ourselves with every amenity I could think of. Very clean place to stay also. I don't think you will ever stay at another B & B where every night we had something fun or silly on our bed to do or read, with chocoate too!!!!! Everyday we wondered what was on our bed that night. My advice, when in Suttons Bay or the surrdounding area, stay at Korner Kottage, you won't want to leave ever. Oh yah, I forgot, every night there was either cookies or fruit on the dining table for us to snack on and you can help yourself to coffee and tea at night and walk just across the street to the lake or play cards on the best front porch ever. The front porch has a life of it's own, there's games and comfy furniture, candles, etc. anything you can think of that you need to chill out with. Do yourself a favor, stay at this B & B if you are looking for a great place to stay at such a nominal price. Best ever. love it.
Good and Bad, but no Ugly
Our first time ever to this area of Michigan was because we wanted to be close to the things we wanted to do. That included the 14 wineries in the area and lighthouses and the sleeping bear dunes. Suttons Bay is great for this. It's unfortunate that there are so little places to stay to choose from. The owners told us they were booked, every room, every day from the time they bought it. (During the summer season) That explains the high price. We have stayed at countless B+B's because we love the experience. This was the most over priced of all. But if you want Suttons Bay, you have little choice. The owners, Jim and Linda are great people. And breakfast is by far better than 99% of other B+B's. The rooms are small and the 13" TV is in the closet and forget trying to read sports scores. I hope this is not too much information but my wife and I could not shower together because it was too small. Hard to critisize this place because the owners are so nice but I did feel overcharged.
We arrived in Suttons Bay late - about 9:30 PM, and came upon the Korner Kottage B&B. We called the number posted on the door, and Jim answered and said he was about to turn in...but would be right there. (They live in back of B&B, and in the basement area.) What a lifesaver! The only room left was a room with a bath down the hall -- but it worked out perfectly for us.
The bed was very comfortable, and the bath was great. The room had a window a/c unit which did a good job keeping the room cool. There are wonderful little restaurants and bars down town -- all easily within walking distance.
We had to leave early in the morning, and Jim prepared our breakfast so we could stay on schedule. ... though we would have preferred to linger! Breakfast was great -- and the coffee machine made a wonderful latte! Fresh fruit, muffins, eggs...all expertly prepared.
Before leaving, we quickly toured the garden area - where Jim had already set the table for the other six guests at the B&B. What a wonderful setting.
We look forward to another trip to Suttons Bay -- and an opportunity to take advantage of the Kozy Kottage's location and front porch - a perfect place for a glass of wine and a good book!
Comfortable and clean bed and breakfast
My boyfriend and I recently stayed at the Korner Kottage for a weekend getaway and it was wonderful. It was our first bed and breakfast experience, so we didn't know what to expect. The owners, Jim and Linda let you have your privacy, but they are always available if you have any questions. We stayed in a downstairs room and although it was a bit small, it was clean and comfortable and smelled nice. The room we were in had a separate bathroom that was down the hall, but it wasn't a problem at all. The bathroom was very spacious and the water pressure was great. They are right downtown, but noise isn't a problem. Breakfast is served every morning at 9 a.m. and Jim is a wonderful chef. They will cater to your preferences as well. Coffee and tea are available 24/7 as well as a living room, dining room, and screened-in porch to relax. We didn't get to see the garden, but heard it was beautiful. They also have brochures/books/magazines all over the home if you want to take some sightseeing/daytrips. They also have a binder full of restaurant menus which was very helpful. I would definitely stay here again. I am a germaphobe, but felt completely at ease at the Korner Kottage because of how clean it seemed to me. They also have the softest 700 thread count sheets and down pillows. I always bring my own pillow and pillowcases when traveling, but didn't even use them on this trip. The only thing I would recommend you bring is hair conditioner and lotion because the water dries out your hair/skin.
A Wonderful B & B
My wife and I are not big on B&B's so we always are pleased when we stay at one that exceeds our expectations and this place did just that. The owners - Jim and Linda - are a very nice couple with a great sense about their guests - when to engage and when to leave alone. We're not big on sharing our life's story and they respect that 100%.
Jim does the cooking and is a true chef - complicated dishes that taste great and are presented on the plate like a 5-star restaurant. The room and bathroom we used were spotless and everything worked. They said our room that faced the main street could be noisy but by turning on the A/C we wouldn't hear a thing and they were right.
We would definitely stay with them again when we go back to the Leelanau Penninsula.
My husband and I stayed at the Korner Kottage based on the reccomendation of a friend who loved the property for our 3 night "minimoon". We really thought this place was perfect for our trip. We did not know what to expect, but the owners are young and interesting and respectful of your privacy. They are very accomidating and helpful in terms of knowing the area. We had a great time up there exploring the vineyards and some local towns, restaurants, etc. It is beautiful up there and the location of the Korner Kottage is perfect. The house itself is very nice - we stayed in the front Paris room which faces the street - with the windows open, we were not bothered by any road noise, but some people may prefer a backyard facing room. Our room had many nice small touches and we were very comfortable there. Months later, my husband is still talking about their gourmet coffee machine, available to guests around the clock, and the breakfasts are gourmet and delicious - a real treat. We really liked it and already plan to return for our 1 year anniversary. I would highly reccomend this property to people visiting the Sutton's Bay / Traverse City / Leelenau Peninsula area.
