... walked through blue ravines, climbed up and down ice mounds and shimmied through small crevices. We stopped for a talk with the giant ‘waterfall’ section as a backdrop. As our guide was explaining some features a huge chunk of ice dropped. The crash and deep rumble seemed to echo for half a minute. A particular highlight for me was crawling through a tunnel in the ice. It got a bit tight in places and I did wonder if ...

An enjoyable trip and great place for ...

New Zealand is approximately 1.1 times the size of the UK but with quite windy roads because of the topography of the land, so you can imagine we had some driving to do in our Stray bus to get around. Our next destination, and a city I had ...

... hour to sit around, take pictures, and eat a few snacks.

The following day, we awoke to find the sky with no clouds covering Mt. Cook and we were ecstatic! We were going to be able to do the Mueller Hut hike. 5.2 km to the hut, with over 3000 feet of elevation gain. There were 2500 steps and we felt them ALL. It was a burner to go up all those steps. Luckily, the steps ended and then ...
