... couple of road signs that said 'Thickly Settled', which I was mystified by (are they talking about my waistline?) It turns out that it means densely populated and you must not drive more than 30 mph. Who knew?

The end of the day brought us to Mystic, CT. We walked around a bit as the sun was going down, catching some beautiful light and chatting with a road-tripping couple from Seattle. They have a motorhome and are spending a year on the road. I'm envious.

The library is repository for all documents accrued during FDR's 12-year presidency (1933-45). ... to research Boston's Freedom Trail, a mostly red brick line that winds almost 3 miles thru town, passing several key landmarks of the American Revolution along the way. About to delve into the "pre-history" behind Boston I was distracted by a Facebook message on my iPhone. It was an ABC News Group update: "Actor Robin Williams is dead at 63 of suspected suicide."

The only negatives to the whole night was the queues to the toilets (including the mens) which were about 20mins long and the moment when Rich bought a bottle of wine and forgot to tip meaning we couldn't get served again (which was hilarious and actually not a bad thing we realised the next morning).
