Due to airline weight restrictions we are only allowed 23kg of luggage each - have they never seen the amount of shoes & home comforts a girl needs for a month away from home??? Tony can make do with one pair of shorts, a t shirt & a change of underwear, but Debs - get real!!!
To make matters worse to take anything over the limit the airline want $50 a ...
What a lovely day I've had.
I was a tad sleepy this morning as I didn’t sleep well last night and also probably due to the fact of yet another late night out with Rachel partying on sat, but what a fun night! I must admit the flight has been playing on my mind ALOT and I’ve had the shakes BAD but I went into town this morning and got some Kalms and Mum got me some Sealegs which should hopefully help ...
... town. We were able to drive the Ambleside and Crook and saw some of the stunning country side. Many stone cottages and fences, lovely valleys and hills. Unfortunatley it was not the weather for any walking which is one of the main attractions of the area.
Had a very relaxing weekend and a stunning meal at Postillion resturant. 28 years! where has it gone.
... to see if I could locate her bag and stuff... and once we found it (thankfully!) we discovered that her camera was missing.. and still is missing (along with the shoe...). We hoped to discover who this camera-shoe-werido thief was, but since Jess can't remember what happened (apparently she even got into a fight!), there is a possibility she left it somewhere herself, or donated it to a homeless person even (one nice black high heel shoe can be counted as ...
Lancaster, England, United Kingdom katie.pittYet more car trouble was on the horizon for Sunday morning. Sherpa had managed to turn his car on, then somehow knock the locking system as he was getting out, just as the door blew shut. Sherpa was now locked out of his running car. Several resourceful hikers spent some considerable time trying to poke the switch on the dashboard with a long pole through the bent window seal. Fun.

The day dawned bright and sunny. Actually, that's a total lie. The storm had settled down into heavy rain and the tops of the surrounding fells were clagged up with cloud. The path outside the hut had a small stream running down it. Even the good, rugged people of the BMC made a slow getaway in serious waterproofs.Eartha and I were the last to leave the hut.
We borrowed a dry bag for the map and planned to stay low. We have waterproof coats and boots ...
The rain came down in sheets. There were gusts of wind that blew clouds of water across the motorway. The night was pitch black and spray from the road surface obscured the tail-lights of the cars infront. Many cars had their fog lights on to try to cut through the storm.
The rain beat continuously on the windscreen. I started to wonder how many thudding drops glass needs before it starts to ...
Tow truck 2, turns up at 15:29 and we are off again for the next leg of the journey, Stirling Services to Lancaster Services. This journey takes around 4 hours and I have a nice chat with the driver, Jim all the way. We phone ahead and arrange the next tow truck to meet us at Lancaster at 19:15, guess what? Yes, it wasn't there and I am told it won't be there until 20:15 and it finally arrives at 20:30
Lancaster, England, United Kingdom peterward... of the lake and I strolled around for 10 minutes or so. I assume that was Windermere, but I am not sure. I upload a few picture from there and if you know where it is, please tell me. Anyway, on our way back, we dropped by Lakeside Motor Museum. I was not interested antique cars exhibited in the museum, but John really was.
John took me to Blackpool. He may have wanted to show me a UK beach resort. The street along the beach was full of decorations. I took a picture of his profile in the car. It was just a memory of Blackpool. We were on the way from Preston, where we met his old friend, and John talked about the word "love", because people there used "love" meaning "you" very often, when they talk to someone, like "Good morning, love!". That sounded awkward to him.
